The Curious Case of DOCUTIFF

 

DocuTIFF’s arrival in this world reminds me of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, because it came to life mature (not old) given that in its DNA runs thirteen years of TIFF’s valuable experience.


Every year it plays with new cinematographic creations as it renews itself with the energy that comes from each courtyard of our world where people express themselves with a camera in their hand.


It explores with a natural sense of adventure the ports of hundreds of unexplored places to bring images of the prominent and the famous with their commercial charm, while it also carefully offers room to those stunned voices by the ‘dictatorship of distribution’ that sing beautiful songs that are so simple and sensitive to life with all its misery and dreamed happiness.


DocuTIFF is faithful to old loves, as it is eager to fall in love again with all their new creations.


For it is conscious of its strange destiny that with each year that passes, it takes its life and is rejuvenated from individuals whom it might never know and meet; yet it tries with all its heart and soul to make their work known and recognized.


This is how I see DocuTIFF and I am so happy and grateful that fate has given me this opportunity to live my life this way.


Understandably, it is not always as in fiction. There are countless dramatic moments that accompany our work throughout the year. There are also comic instances that bring us to tears, but as life itself, it’s truthfully funny, strange and curious at the same time, how we continue despite the existential difficulties in this field, where our work is not seen as a priority and we somehow miraculously survive thanks only to this unconditional love for cinema and truth.


It’s precisely this quest for the truth and my idealistic soul that helped me create a new rapport with this important film genre.  This need to share with your own contemporaries the complex truths of our existence was far stronger than the comfort offered by television advertising or the conceited life of social networking.


DocuTIFF gives one the opportunity to find the similar souls among the billions of them, gives one confidence and strength in pursuing the truth, and it rekindles the hope that with a small camera in hand you can do a great film.


DocuTIFF’s selection confirms once again that the love for truth is the only requirement to make a great film, not the budget, the crew, the director’s name nor the place it comes from. For the determination for this quest of truth is the fundamental condition for a successful documentary film.


In this second edition of DocuTIFF we have selected a large number of films - 180 of them, taking a big risk but we were tempted not to deprive the public of confronting these truths coming out of around hundred countries, that different as they may be, are entirely similar to the truths we face in our country.


Our mission will be fulfilled if after the 8th of June the cameras in the hands of the youth will not only be used for selfies, but also as a tool to discover themselves through the lives of others.


I was impressed by a sentence in one of the feature length films in competition.


“Sailors are like terrorists. They arrive in ports with a bomb called love and throw it. And do you know what happens? The bomb explodes when they go away and they never come back...


Like those sailors, I would like that after the closing of the festival these 180 filmic bombs that we screened, will continue to inspire many new Albanian films, fueling filmmakers with more love for the documentary form and to turn their attention to this truly cinematic genre.


But now we just landed, so I declare the festival opened, wishing all the participants, the juries, the foreign guests, the public and DocuTIFF' stuff, success and the best of luck!

Ardhja e DocuTIFF në jetë më kujton “Rastin Kurioz të Benjamin Button”,


Sepse Lindi i pjekur (jo i moshuar) duke patur në ADN-në e vet eksperiencën  e vyer 13-vjeçare nga TIFF.


Sepse “luan” çdo vit me krijesat e reja kinematografike dhe rinohet edhe vetë prej energjisë që ato ofrojnë nga çdo “oborr” i kësaj bote ku luhet me kamera në dorë.


Sepse eksploron me sensin e natyrshëm të aventurës në “limanet” e qindra vendeve të pashkelura për të sjellë në atdhe figura të shquara e të famshme me sharmin e tyre komercial, por edhe duke qëmtuar gjithashtu me kujdes edhe zëra të mekur nga “diktatura e distribucionit”, por që këndojnë po aq bukur këngë të thjeshta e të ndjeshme për jetën, hallet dhe lumturinë e ëndërruar.


Sepse është besnik me dashuritë e vjetra e mezi pret të ridashurohet me to në krijimet e tyre të reja.


Sepse i ndërgjegjshëm për fatin e tij të çuditshëm, çdo vit që kalon merr jetë e rigjenerohet nga individë që nuk arrin t’i njohë kurrë në jetë, por përpiqet me mish e me shpirt t’i bëjë ata të njohur.


Kështu e shoh DocuTIFF dhe jam i lumtur që fati më ka sjellë ta jetoj kështu këtë jetë.


Natyrisht që nuk është gjithmonë si në fiction. Dramat e shoqërojnë këtë punë gjatë gjithë vitit. Komeditë na bëjnë për të qarë edhe pse gazin nuk e heqim nga buzët, por është e vërtetë si jeta vetë, është dokumentare, e çuditshme dhe kurioze njëkohësisht se si vazhdojmë midis qindra vështirësish ekzistenciale të një bote që punën tonë nuk e ka edhe aq prioritet e të mbijetojmë mrekullisht nga kjo marrëdhënie e pakushtëzuar e dashurisë për filmin, për kinemanë, për të vërtetën.


Është kjo e vërtetë dhe shpirti i lindur idealist, që më ka bërë të krijoj një raport të ri me këtë gjini të kinematografisë.


Nevoja për të ndarë me bashkëkohësit e tu të vërtetat e kësaj bote qenka me e madhe se sa komoditeti që të ofrojnë reklamat televizive apo jeta vanitoze e rrjeteve sociale.


DocuTIFF të jep mundësinë të gjesh shpirtra të ngjashëm midis miliarda syresh, të jep besimin se asgjë nuk mund të humbasë në këtë jetë, përveç pasionit për të vërtetën, të jep shpresën se me një kamera të vogël në dorë mund të bësh vërtet një film të madh.


DocuTIFF vërteton nëpërmjet zgjedhjeve të veta se e vetmja gjë e madhe për të bërë një film të tillë nuk është as buxheti, as stafi, as emri e as vendi. E madhe duhet të jetë dashuria për të vërtetën, si kusht themelor për një film dokumentar.


Këtë edicion të 2-të të DocuTIFF kemi përzgjedhur një numër shumë të madh filmash, 180 të tillë, duke rrezikuar shumë gjëra në organizim, por ishim të tunduar gjithë kohës për të mos e privuar publikun nga ballafaqimi me të vërtetat nga rreth 100 vende të botës, që po aq çuditërisht sa fati ynë, janë kryekëput të ngjashme me të vërtetat tona.


Do të quhej mision i përmbushur ky i yni nëse pas 8 qershorit çdo lloj kamere në duart e të rinjve nuk do të shërbejë vetëm për selfie, por si një tentativë për të zbuluar veten nëpërmjet jetës së të tjerëve.


Në një nga filmat e gjatë në konkurim të këtij edicioni, më bëri përshtypje fjalia themelore e tij:


“Marinarët janë si terroristët. Ata mbërrijnë në port me një bombë të quajtur dashuri dhe e hedhin atë. Dhe a e dini se çfarë ndodh? Bomba shpërthen atëherë kur ata largohen e nuk kthehen më kurrë....”


Ashtu si marinarët do të doja që pas mbylljes së festivalit këto 180 bomba filmike që do të shfaqim të hedhin në eter po kaq filma të rinj shqiptarë duke nxitur sadopak që filmi dokumentar të bëhet më i dashur e regjisorët ta kthejnë sa më shpesh kokën pas te kjo gjini e vërtetë e kinematografisë.


Por ne tani jemi në ardhje dhe unë e deklaroj të hapur festivalin duke uruar të gjithë pjesëmarrësit, juritë, mysafirët e huaj, publikun dhe stafin e DocuTIFF Suksese e punë të mbarë!

TIRANA INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL - DocuTIFF 2016 do të zhvillojë edicionin e dytë të festivalit kinematografik nga data 1-8 qershor në sallat e Muzeut Historik Kombëtar, Open Air te ambienti Atrium, COD dhe TULLA Culture Center.

 

Nga më shumë se 2000 aplikime prej 102 vendeve të botës janë përzgjedhur për publikun shqiptar dhe mysafirët e huaj 180 filma, nga të cilët 100 në konkurrim dhe 80 filma në programet dhe projeksionet speciale.

Përveç zbulimeve interesante të autorëve të rinj janë përzgjedhur për publikun edhe filma dokumentarë të vlerësuar e seleksionuar në festivalet më të rëndësishme ndërkombëtare, si Sundance, Cannes, Berlinale, Venezia apo të nominuar e me çmime në Oscar, Golden Globe, etj. (shiko materialin bashkangjitur)

 

Përveç konkurimit ndërkombëtar në kategoritë e filmit me metrazh të gjatë, të mesëm dhe të shkurtër, një hapësirë e veçantë do t'i lihet edhe filmit në shqip që vjen me autorë nga Shqipëria, Kosova, Maqedonia dhe kudo ku ata ndodhen.

Për të interesuarit, kineastët dhe studentët e filmit do të mbahen edhe tre masterclass nga autorë e studiues të rëndësishëm nga Gjermania dhe Izraeli, Noemi Schory, Andreas Voigt dhe Ira Ira Kormannshaus.

 

Do të jenë 4 juri që do të vlerësojnë filmat në konkurim. Juria ndërkombëtare e metrazhit të gjatë, juria ndërkombëtare e metrazhit të mesëm e të shkurtër dhe juria ndërkombëtare e filmit në shqip.

Nuk do të mungojë edhe këtë edicion juria e Medias, e cila filmin dokumentar e ka pjesë të natyrshme të profesionit të vet.
