Filmography:

Born in Romania, Anca M. Lazarescu emigrated with her family to Germany in 1990. In 2000 she began her studies at the “German Academy for Film and Television” in Munich. She directed several documentary and short films which attracted international interest. “The Secret of Deva“ was sold to over 10 territories and received the award for Best Emerging German Film, 2007. “One Day Today Will Be Once” won at the Syracuse Film Festival, was nominated for the Best German Short Film at the Oberhausen International Film Festival in 2010 and was invited to different international festivals, including Rotterdam, Nyon and Sapporo. Anca attended numerous scriptwriting workshops held by Mark Travis, Keith Cunningham and Hans-Christian Schmid. She worked on the comedy T.V. series, “Scrubs” in Los Angeles and attended summer classes at UCLA. Her affection for subjects such as the East-West conflict, and themes such as immigration and the outsider in a community are influenced by her own background, having been born and raised in a country with plenty of identity issues, if not an inferiority complex.
