Agostino Ferrente was born in 1971 in Apulia. After completing film studies at the Dams in Bologna and at “Ipotesi Cinema”, under the direction of Ermanno Olmi, he directs short films, “Poco piů della metŕ di zero” (1993) and “Opinioni di un pirla” (1994) awarded in many Italian and international festivaIs. Along with Giovanni Piperno, he produced and co-directs two documentaries,: “Intervista a mia madre” (1999) shot in disadvantaged neighbourhoods of Naples and “II film di Mario” (2001), shot in Bari.
In 2002, with the collective Apollo 11 and Mario Tronco, keyboard player of the band Avion Travel, he creates the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio, a multi-ethnic orchestra of about twenty musicians who begin to play in 2002. The Orchestra performs in Italy and worldwide. In 2005, Agostino Ferrente codirected the collective investigative documentary “Scusi dovč il Documentario?” with the participation of Nanni Moretti, Vittorio De Seta In 2013, codirected, with Giovanni Piperno, “Le Cose Belle” which narrates ten years of the lives of fouryoung Neapolitans. Projected at Venice Film Festival for Venice Days (Giornate degli Autori) in 2013, and was distributed by the Istituto Luce Cinecittŕ in June 2014, obtaining unanimous consensus of critics, excellent collections and winning a host of international awards that consecrated him as the most prized Italian Documentary of the 2014. |
